Why should you stop using Polycarbonate Plastic?
•Health Risks: Use of plastics in cooking and food storage can carry health risks, especially when hormone-disrupting chemicals from some plastics leach into foods and beverages. •Polycarbonate is known to leach bisphenol A when heated or when harsh detergents are used. Dishwashers with the combination of high heat and detergent use could increase leaching. Avoid microwaving, avoid hot foods or beverages, hand wash with mild detergent, avoid acidy foods.
•BPA (Bisphenol A), the synthetic estrogen, is linked to a host of cancers, early on set puberty, obesity and type-ii diabetes.
•BPA has been found to stimulate prostate cancer cells and causes breast tissue changes in mice that resemble early stages of breast cancer in both mice and humans. One study found an association between ovarian dysfunction and higher levels of BPA in urine.
